GateWall proxy server is a fully-fledged Internet management tool for providing local network users with Internet access using only one Internet connection. It provides centralized administration of all connections, utilized bandwidth and time users spend online; it automates calculations of consumed traffic, billing and Internet usage reporting.
GateWall provides a flexible network control by automating connection, work schedule, billing, traffic calculation and other routines with the help of "rules" - predefined scenarios. For example, without any human intervention, the program can shift the user billing plan from regular to special one, based on the web addresses visited, date, or specified time; it can restrict Internet access based on the users time online, traffic limits for a day or month, IP-addresses, URL strings, or specified traffic speed limits.
The administrator can view a detailed status of active session for each user - including IP address, user name, bytes sent or received, and visited URLs. By setting URL filtering policies, the administrator can restrict the user access to irrelevant websites, set up ad-filters and expose company bandwidth abuse. GateWall can send users emails with detailed Internet usage statistics at regular time intervals. GateWall includes statistics module that allows making various reports on Internet usage and exporting them to MS Excel format.
Among other useful features there are: Network Address Translation (NAT), various user authorization methods, port mapping (allows traffic to be redirected from one port to another), resource publishing (provides Internet access to local network resources), HTTP resources caching, remote administration, and many others.
Featuring an intuitive, well-designed interface, GateWall can be used by beginners as well as advanced users.
GateWall supports HTTP, FTP, POP3, SMTP, IMAP4, Telnet, IRC, NNTP, ICQ and all other protocols over UDP/TCP.
Here are some key features of "GateWall":
· Web caching – storing files from the Internet in the cache, available for all users;
· Different authentication methods: by IP address, by user name and password, by Windows authentication, by Active Directory;
· Dial on demand – automatic connection to ISP by a modem;
· Traffic control system for each user or group which can block access to the Internet based on: User’s time spent browsing the Internet, the traffic amount for a day or month; Scheduled connecting to the Internet; Internet domains, IP addresses or part of URL strings which user can connect to; Set on how fast the Internet traffic limits may be accessed for each particular user;
· Filtering of Internet content to block users from visiting non-work related Internet sites;
· Connecting to upstream proxy;
· Realtime Internet traffic monitoring;
· Billing plans for each user/group based on user’s Internet time or traffic;
· Reporting system that e-mails each user with Internet usage statistics for specified time periods;
· Ability to automatically or manually e-mail users with their statistics;
· GateWall supports protocols: HTTP (with caching); FTP (with caching); NAT (Network Address Translation) for POP3, SMTP, IMAP4, Telnet, IRC, NNTP, ICQ and all the other protocols over UDP/TCP.
