cFos for Windows is a ISDN, DSL / PPPoE und ATM driver for Internet access and modem software.

cFos data compression can be activated (cFos to cFos) with the "-43b" parameter and the "AT&K1" command. If your CAPI driver supports CAPI-V.42bis data compression, it can be enabled using the "AT&Q1" command.
cFos is a perfekt DSL and ISDN Dial-in Driver.

What's New in This Release:

· cFos has the next generation traffic shaping as it is already
· implemented in cFosSpeed. This means dynamic adaption to variing
· bandwidths and no need for calibration anymore. The new ACK-filter is also included.
· Also for Win XP and above, there is a new dialog where you can
· prioritize certain programs individually. From now on traffic shaping
· is developed for cFos and cFosSpeed simultaneously.
· The firewall has been re-designed. The rules are now much more
· relaxed, since most normally useful tight firewall rules inhibit
· some of the cooler and esoteric Internet features (like multicasting,
· mobility support, certain routing protocols, etc).
· cFos firewall is only designed to protect you from the basic threats
· like malformed packets, source routing and known insecure open ports.
· Ingress/egress filtering is still in place to protect you from IP
· spoofing. The firewall tries to stealth your PC as good as possible
· (i.e. make it hard to find out that a live system is at your IP
· address.)
· You can tighten and/or change the firewall rules now like you see
· fit. Have a look at settings.ini (or "cfo filter") for the active rules
· and the explanation in filter_expressions.txt. "cfo fwstat" will
· show a count of blocked packets and the rules that caused the blocking.
· FWLOG.TXT contains a dump of the packets.
· New improved skin routines with a lot of new functionality, such
· as switch buttons. In addition you can design skins which are
· displayed as taskbar icons. See our new icon skin as an example.
· Also added some more TGA formats.
· The default skin now has on optional numerical display and a switch
· button for the new traffic shaping variables ping_time and tcp_cnt. You can now design skins with switch buttons.
· cFos now has a command line tool named "cfo" to access all kinds of
· statistics and settings. See "cfo help" for a help screen.
· Added japanese and korean language support. That makes a total of
· 6 languages supported (German, English, traditional & simplified Chinese were already supported).
· cFos now supports up to 64 COM ports.
· Added PINGLOG.TXT as a debugging aid when pings don't work.
· When used on a system with really heavy load, cFos would sometimes perform badly, like not updating the connection time correctly. Fixed.
· Improved performance of CFOSDNT.EXE when used on a router (like an ICS server).
· Added a fix to make cFos work better with eumex CAPIs.
· cFos will now try to meet the percentage of low prio classes better.
· This was sometimes exceeded in the past.
· cfo cstat command now shows percentage of sent data in each class.
· Shaping didn't work the first session (when you were asked if you wanted the
· connection to be shaped), but only in later sessions. Fixed.
· Context menu entries "clear calibration data" and "send burst" didn't work.Fixed.
· Sometimes cFos crashed when used with the -di switch. Fixed. Thanks to Frank Auerswald.
· DATA.INI may not have been written when shutting down cFosSpeed. Fixed.
· Fixed counting error in NETSTAT command (TCP/Checksum errors).
· Changing a program priority to "normal" didn't work. Fixed.
· The calibration pulse (burst) could have set addhops to a router that doesn't answer pings. Fixed.
· Programs that were started with options may have been ignored by program priorization. Fixed.
· Fixed a problem that could crash the system when shutting down with cFos still having an active connection.
· Fixed bugs in skin routines.
· Fixed a crash that occured with fast user switching.
· Fixed a rare bluescreen.
· Fixed in-session saving of budgets.
· Fixed missing externals for Win95.
· Increased the guaranteed percentage of tx bandwidth for low and lowest classes from 20% to 25%.
· Distribution files are no longer compressed using UPX.
